Junior outdoor practice and coaching starts on Monday 19th April. Training arrangments for the age groups are as follows: U15s - Mondays - 5.30-7.00pm U13s - Wednesdays - 5.30-7.00pm U11s and below - Sundays 9.30-11.00am Around 160 children from age 5 to 15 take part in our Junior Stags programme. We have an Under 15 team which trains on Monday evenings and plays in the Lothian League on Wednesday evenings, as well as taking part in the Lothian Cup and Scottish Cup. We also have two teams at Under 13 which train on Wednesday evenings and take part in the Lothian Leagues on Monday evenings. We also enter the Under 13 Scottish Cup. Everyone from Under 5 through to Under 11 is in action on Sunday mornings, playing kwik cricket and other modified games. To help make the transition from softball to hardball, we have an Under 10 team which takes part in the incredi-ball pairs cricket tournaments around the region and an Under 11 team which plays hardball fixtures with our local rivals. We run taster sessions in our local primary schools, Stockbridge and Flora Stevenson’s, to introduce the children to cricket. Many go on to join the club, and one has even managed to earn a place in the City of Edinburgh Schools Cricket Academy. A good number of Junior Stags go on to play for Lothian Schools, win places in the Eastern Regional Academy or even represent Scotland at age-group level. We are proud to be a Cricket Scotland accredited TOPClub, and in 2008 were presented with the Bronze Award. Having an approved development plan and child protection policy shows that we are committed to providing safe and enjoyable cricketing opportunities for all children. In 2009 and beyond, we will be chasing the Silver and Gold Awards.
